We have one more regular meeting in 2012 coming up on Monday November 26th. We hope you can join us then at 6:30pm in the Maring-Hunt Library-- 2005 S. High Street (just South of Memorial Drive/Liberty Street) in Muncie.
We'll have coffee and hot cocoa, good conversation and an enjoyable time as we see to the club's business. Everyone in the community is welcome and invited to attend. Drop in, say hello, and if you have any questions or thoughts to share we would love to hear them.
Here are the highlights from the October meeting:
- Our new club officers for 2013 were accepted and announced. Nominations were opened during the September meeting and only one nominee was received for each position in the interim. In accordance with the MAARC Constitution, no election is required for unopposed officer positions. As such, the following individuals have assumed their roles by acclimation:
President Robert Rai, KB7ZGB
Vice-President Gary Lee, KB9ZUV
Secretary Jeff Neal, KA9HIJ
Treasurer Rick Rodman, KC4BCK
Trustee Jim McDonald, KB9LEI
Congratulations to our new Club Officers !
- As approved in early 2012, MAARC is seeking status as an Indiana non-profit corporation. Our past President Mark, KL2RR, laid the groundwork for this transition. Robert, KB7ZGB, reports that the club is now working with Attorney Jeff Hartling of Hartling Law, LLC in Noblesville, Indiana. Mr. Hartling has reserved our corporate name with the state and is currently drawing up the paperwork. If all goes according to plan, we should be able to get things finalized at the club meeting in November. Attorney Hartling-- a fellow Ham, callsign K3GGP-- is the son of club member Don Hartling, KB9RF. The Hartling family has generously volunteered to cover all expenses involved with MAARC's incorporation, and we thank them for their support.
- Bill, N9RI, reports that our spare 2-Meter repeater has been upgraded with a tone board. The machine has passed bench testing and is ready to rock whenever the need arises. MAARC owns an identical pair of 2 Meter repeaters, repeater controllers, duplexers and high gain base antennas for the 146.730 MHz machine. After the repeater cores were successfully swapped last month to bring tone access and squelch online, Bill had the opportunity to upgrade the second machine. We now have a completely tested, fully functional and pre-configured backup for all components of East-Central Indiana's most popular repeater ! We would like to take a moment here and acknowledge the personal time, expert skill and generous dedication of MAARC's Technical Committee-- Bill, N9RI; Jeff, KA9HIJ, Gary, KB9ZUV-- in keeping our repeaters on the air and ready to serve.
- The MAARC Christmas Party has been set for 6:00 pm December 15, 2012 at the MCL restaurant's banquet room in the Muncie Mall. All members, family and friends are cordially invited. The entire MCL dinner menu will be available on an individual basis, and the club will provide dessert. We will be collecting unwrapped toy donations for local charity, and for your convenience we will be accepting dues for MAARC 2013 membership renewals. We hope to see everyone come out for the largest "Eyeball QSO" of the year. Ring in the holidays with friends old and new at the MAARC Christmas party !
Thanks to all who attended, we look forward to seeing everyone again on November 26, 2012.
