Big news from the October meeting

The 2018 MAARC December Dinner will be at the same location as last year's, but with two important changes: First, it will be a Carry-In (what former Easterners call "pot-luck"), and second, there will be no admission charge. We will have a sign-up sheet at the November club meeting where you can indicate what you are able to bring, so we don't all bring the same thing. (Personally, I can't even cook boiled water, so I will be bringing some drinks.)

The new Icom 7200 was present in all its radiant glory.

There was a demonstration of receive-only APRS (packet radio) using virtually no hardware. A lot has changed since the 1980s when I was doing packet... no big TNC box connected to a CP/M computer using dual-floppy 8" disk drives.

We are starting membership renewals at the Nov. meeting. Starting this year, any membership renewals in October or later (Sept. or later?) go to the end of the following year, so come up and renew for 2019 right now and avoid the rush.
