It's time for Field Day folks, and everyone is invited. See you there !
Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June of each year, more than 35,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations...
...and here in the Muncie area, we do it in style !
Linda Rai, a retired local teacher, contacting Hawaii at Field Day 2012. Our GOTA station is reserved for non-hams just like her. Will you be next ? |

When:
2:00pm Saturday June 22, 2013 to 2:00pm Sunday June 23, 2013
Field Day activities run continuously for 24 hours. Feel free to arrive anytime and stay for as long as you like. We'll be there all night !

Coordinates: N 40° 5.740' W 85° 21.498' (40.095, -85.357)
From Muncie-- take Hwy 3 South towards New Castle. Turn LEFT (East) at CR 700 S, proceed 1/2 mile to the Club's entrance. Turn LEFT (North) through the gate, follow the lane 1/3 mile until you see the antennas.
The objective of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bandsª and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.
ª Except 60m, 30m, 17m and 12m. Field Day operations are prohibited on those bands.
This means we operate our stations outdoors with basic shelter, use only non-commercial power for our radios and pack in everything we need with nothing larger than personal vehicles. In short, we go off-grid with only what fits in a truck.
However... don't be discouraged if that sounds like an uncomfortable, primitive way to spend the weekend ! With fantastic support from our friends at the Monroe Township Conservation Club, Field Day participants can look forward to:
